This is Hank Hoffmeier with a marketing and business tip. Thank you for joining me today.

I was recently at a conference where I heard a speaker from Yelp discussing their platform. Did you know that only 1% of yelp users leave reviews? That means many people are searching Yelp for a product or service or restaurant, which is what they started out as, or are well known for, but it is a great way for you to have your business be visible and have some reviews of your product or service to make people trust you. These reviews are not allowed to be removed or edited, but you can reply to them.

Maybe you can try to get a better conversion than 1% of general users leaving tips or reviews for your establishment or company. The first thing to do is make sure that you claim your business if it is already there, or create your business on Yelp so people can find you, learn about your hours, your location, and most importantly read some reviews.

It is important to know that you don not want to push people to give you a Yelp review or compensate them for that. You wanted to be organic. But you can let your customers know that you are on Yelp and say it would be nice if you go over there and look at our listing and maybe leave a review. But do not entice them to leave a positive review or compensate for that.

If you are not on Yelp, make sure that you are looking at getting on there and creating your profile. If you want to pay you can get some more features and opportunities to drive more traffic to your website or brick and mortar location. If you are already on there, make sure you are optimizing your listing as well as you are looking at and responding to those reviews.

Good luck if you have a yelp listing. If you have any questions, let me know.
