Hank’s Marketing and Business Tip #65: Elevator Speech

Transcription:

Thank you for joining me on Hank’s Marketing and Business Tips today.

If I was to ask you to tell me your elevator pitch, would you know to say? If I was to meet you somewhere and I seem like I was busy, and I just asked you “what you do?”, how would you respond?

You need to make sure that you have a short description to provide to someone that will inform them you are, what you do, and what value you can offer the marketplace. For me, I would say, ” interesting you ask what I do. I help small and midsize companies become successful with digital marketing. Is there anything I can help you with, right now?”. Usually the response is: ” No. not not right now, but that’s interesting, what you mean by digital marketing? And it sparks a little bit of a conversation around digital marketing and how I operate in that realm. It usually turns to social media, marketing automation, and email marketing. We can discuss pay per click ads, websites, or anything else.

So, mine is short and brief, and I have a question at the end. Maybe it’s not perfect, but it works for me. So, what would work for you? Make sure that you have a value statement in there that describes what you do or what product you offer, and how it’s gonna help the person you are speaking to, or marketplace. If you not have an elevator pitch right now, make sure to work on one. Write one down this week.

A few episodes ago, I asked you to write down a goal. If f you did not write down that goal, or if you were too lazy to do that, maybe what you can do is turn this into your goal. To create an elevator speech within the next five days. This way you have it. Put in into the notes app in your phone, so you can rehearse it, and you can really hone in on delivering that an impactful manner, were does not seem robotic.

So, make sure that you develop a great elevator speech that is very short, sweet, gets to the point, so you can hand them a business card if you meet them in person, tell them your elevator speech, or maybe if you meet them online, you can type that into a box or an email and send them your virtual card, which is LinkedIn. A connection on LinkedIn. And be on your way to developing a relationship with that person. And hopefully they become a client, customer, or business partner.

Thanks for listening and I hope if you have received value and want to receive more information and this the first episode you are listening too, make sure to go to HankHoffmeier.com/Alexa.
