Bonus: Planning for 2018

Now that the end of the year and the holidays are upon us, we tend to focus on other things than our work or our business.

You should always be planning for the week, month, quarter, and year. I have already met with my wife and planned some of our goals for next year and I will devote some time to plan my professional goals in December.

Make sure that you have created your personal goals before you develop professional goals so that there are no conflicts.

What made me think to create this episode was a meeting I had with Annie Franceschi from Greatest Story Creative, whom I met while speaking at a local event where I spoke about running webinars. I also found out that she also belongs to a speaking group that I am a member of.

We had time to catch up and have a get to know you call yesterday and what resonated with me was that she said that she uses the month of December to plan for the new year. She does not work with clients during this month so that she can truly plan effectively. I thought that this was awesome.

I also heard a similar message on John Hayes’ Podcast: Becoming the Expert. In Episode 51, John talks about using December to plan and maybe learn new things.

Make sure to take advantage of any downtime you have toward the end of the year to plan or learn new things. If you are thinking about starting a business, this is a good time to start planning so that you can hit the ground running in 2018.

What are you going to plan, how will you plan it? How will you use the time you have to become successful and creative?
